Brighton

If you would like to see pictures of this event please email us (address on Homepage)

The forecast was cloudy with the possibility of rain, so we were apprehensive when we left. Although cloudy it was a warm day and the sun made frequent appearances.

I am not sure if anyone took a trip on the sea-front railway.

The minibuses were parked up and we each meandered along the sea front and up the 'lanes'. One note the 'lanes' are quite narrow and could cause a problem for a wheelchair.

There was plenty of room on the beach, but nobody from our party ventured that near the sea.

Those who visited the pavilion said it was very interesting.

The fishing museum on the sea-front had a number of photographs and items of when Brighton was a thriving fishing port.

We arranged to meet up at the end of the pier at 5pm.

Those arriving early were treated to some music from a Beatles tribute band.

A pleasant day with mild sunburn reported in a couple of cases. All in all another good day out that was not too hot, and more important,

it didn't rain.

Grangewaters

Some of our members going for a paddle.

The main purpose of the day was to allow those with disabilities to take part in activities they would not normally be able to. It was a day for families, so there were not too many restrictions.

Unfortunately there was not enough breeze for the windsurfers to put up sails.

The younger family members had a great day out on the water.

It turned out to be a warm pleasant day. There were numerous activities to take part in, mainly on the lake. There were a couple of Charity stalls and an auction was held to raise funds for the centre.

Southend Air Show

The outing started off very wet and windy.   It stayed that way until early afternoon when we were able to go for a walk along the promenade and see the sights.

We had a very good view of the air display from the ambulance when it was raining, and from the promenade when it was not.

Southend Council provided toilets and refreshments very near to the disabled parking area.

The atmosphere on the coach was very jolly and we had a driver very au fait with aircraft who elaborated on the programme.

All in all a very good day with an enjoyable time being had by all.

Leeds Castle

This turned out to be a great day with beautiful weather. A special event was being held at the castle promoting English food and wine. There were several stalls from farms and vineyards, showing produce from English companies (not sure about the curry stall though). Samples were there to taste, plus the chance to buy.

There were also demonstrations from a couple of the TV chefs and information was given about English wine.

In all a good day out in lovely countryside.

One note of warning, the grounds are very hilly. There is a bus but wheelchair spaces are limited, and if you do use a wheelchair try and get Arnie as your pusher.
